First of Many Monthly Community Suggested Blog Post – 70’s Porn Tashes and Movember.

Stay with me here as I’ll skip from friendly banter to a very important issue. 

OK, I know my blog is a pretty small community of mostly close (and from this suggestion warped) friends, so this post varies wildly from what I expected my blog to look like. Thanks for the suggestion Paula, I’ve made a minor tweak though.

Above is a Facebook post of myself supporting a mid-shave mustache with a suggestion that I was testing my Movember look early. I’m hoping this is where the suggestion came from, knowing Paula, I’m not quite sure?

I honestly can’t believe I’m writing this but please read on for a quick look into Mustaches, focused on the ones typically associated with old school 70’s porn.

Now to start my research on this subject I typed the subject matter into a Google image search. I’m not suggesting you do this, especially if your at work, luckily only about 10% of the image search contained nudity. I was shocked especially having the word Porn in the search title. A brilliant mix of cigarette advertising, Olympic Medals and Ron Burgundy.

Look at all of those Mustachio’d  Alpha males. I love it, but I’m a little concerned that I spent so long looking at these results before I came up with the idea to switch this into a sensible post. Now onto the slight modification I mentioned earlier, which I hope turns this into a sensible post.

What is Movember?

Movember is a movement started in a bar in Australia. All good ideas start this way, a few friends in a bar and a good cause. Originally raising money for the RSPCA, in Adelaide I believe, a group of men were also bringing back the mustache, a marriage made in heaven, charity and facial hair. Then another group got hold of the idea and focused on mens health, the tag line was great ‘Are you man enough to be a man?’ the movement as it looks now was born and focused on raising money for men’s health issues. Now over 5 million people take part every year and has helped to raise over £400m. The added benefit is that people all over the world talking about the many issues surrounding mens health and having fun creating great facial artwork. Find out more here. Movember UK
